Milled at Wales' last working windmill

Melin Llynon is Wales’ last working windmill, tucked away in the peaceful village of Llanddeusant. Once upon a time there were around 48 windmills on Anglesey alone, which is why the island was nicknamed “The Mother of Wales” or “The Bread Basket of Wales.”

Built in 1776, the mill was brought back to life in the 1980s and restored again in 2024. Now, we’re proud to be producing our very own organic stoneground wholemeal flour. You’ll find it being used in restaurants and bakeries across Anglesey, and you can bring a little piece of Anglesey history into your kitchen, too.

Because it’s a proper coarse flour, we recommend swapping out 10%–50% of the flour in your usual recipes with Llynon Flour. That way, you get all the rich flavour without changing the texture.

Melin Llynon

Built in 1776, Melin Llynon stands as the last working windmill in Wales. After being restored by Anglesey County Council in the 1980s, the mill sadly slipped back into disrepair by 2019. A new chapter began in 2021 with a second major restoration, completed in 2024.

Today, the sails turn once more, and Melin Llynon proudly carries its title as “The Last Working Windmill in Wales” .

During our opening hours, you can go inside the windmill yourself! And on certain days, you can even see it working.
